Strong growth in refit markets for On Board Marine Group in Asia
Following a strong 2016 year of growth in the Hong Kong and Asia refit markets, OBMG is already booked for a solid start for 2017, With a recent refit signed on a 75ft Sailing Yacht , to be completed in Q1 in Langkwai following a paint re-spray by another APSA member.
The yacht will receive a 2017 upgrade to the latest B&G Marine Electronics, with special focus on increasing the size of the carbon fibre helm pedestal displays from 12 Inch non-touch, to 16 Inch Touch screen displays. This will give the helmsman more vision on performance sailing numbers as the Sailing Yacht is a regular on the Asia sail boat racing circuit.
OBMG will be also implementing an enhanced 4G Cellular / Routeing system, combining ships own KVH Mini VSat and Fleet Broad Band technologies in to a multi-tier wifi system that features access control to users, in 3 wifi networks, Guest , Crew and Owner. Therefore preventing large bills on satellite communications, that are common on un-managed networks with open access to guests and crews.
OBMG has continued to add to is highly skilled staff base, with the addition of two new full time high voltage and control system engineers from backgrounds and experience in super yacht and commercial systems. This brings OBMG up to Thirteen Full time staff, with eight of those in hands -on technical and engineering capacities in electrical design, trouble shooting and maintenance of complex marine electrical systems. Installation of new systems on new build of refit vessels from 35-200ft is also a major market for the company. OBMG has become the preferred choice from after sales service providers and sales facilities for electrical and electronics works on imported European production yachts delivered to Hong Kong.
OBMG has geared up to take on refit projects throughout Asia and is currently taking inquires for refit works in Q2 onwards in 2017.
