Chairman’s Message Mid May 2021
Dear APSA Members and Friends,
I would like to thank all the APSA members who took time to participate in the 10th Annual General Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association, which was both an in-person and a live Zoom event. Without members’ commitment and involvement, the Association would not have the strong voice that it has, and going forward we look forward to engaging more closely with our members and growing the Asia-Pacific superyacht community. We hope that there will be an opportunity to catch up with each of you in the coming year. A special thanks to APSA member August Tiu (The Baroque on Lamma) for their support and use of the boardroom both for the APSA Grand Tour webinar and the AGM.
This newsletter reports on the 10th Annual ASMEX Conference held this week, addressing hot topics such as economic recovery, growth in marine exports, electric/hybrid engines, importing a superyacht into Australia, and the latest superyacht visitation data for 2020. APSA members Benetti and Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef were active supporters of both the Conference and the Australian Marine Industry Awards. Other news includes updates on foreign flagged yacht protocols for Thailand, and environment and sustainability issues featured in the May/June 2021 issue of Asia Pacific Boating magazine.
This year APSA will be represented at the Palma Yacht Show in June by APSA Vice Chairman Christophe Ceard who representing both his company Swiss Ocean Yacht Management and the Association. In September Christophe and myself plan to be at the Monaco Yacht Show, and later in the year - if travel restrictions ease - APSA will be able to share its 10th Anniversary with the Singapore Yacht Show which will also be celebrating 10 years in business.
Keep safe and connected.
