Expansion for SYL Australia Pty., Ltd.
Originally set up in Cairns, SYL AUSTRALIA PTY., LTD. has so far been a small operation working with visiting yachts, assisting them with clearances, provisioning, parts & supplies and tours and excursions.
At SYL’s board meeting during the ASMEX conference and Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, it was unanimously decided to put a long-considered 3-part expansion plan for SYL AUSTRALIA into immediate operation.
- SYL AUSTRALIA will start to ramp up its Cairns operation with the hiring of several new staff over the next few months.
- SYL AUSTRALIA will look to open an office in Sydney before the end of 2019, with extra staff.
- SYL AUSTRALIA will beginning June 1st 2019, immediately open an office in the Gold Coast / Brisbane area which will be run by ex-superyacht Captain Eric Pearson.
About Captain Eric Pearson.
Originally from Cape Town South Africa Eric grew up sailing and soon became a Superyacht Captain. He has vast experience operating in command throughout the Mediterranean, USA and Caribbean, with 5 trans-Atlantic crossings.
Eric settled on the Gold Coast 15 years ago.
Having been in command of and run shipyard and refits periods for large yachts, Eric fully understands Captains, crews as well as owners and guests, for both large motor and sailing yachts and has extensive experience in shoreside operations.
Nigel Beatty (SYL Worldwide President / SYL Australia Co-founder) and Carol Harris (SYL Australia President & Co-founder) made a joint statement:
“With a substantial uptick in business SYL AUSTRALIA needs to expand. We have been asked by Captains that we work with to provide them services elsewhere in Australia other than only Cairns; and we are responding. So watch this space for a forthcoming Cairns & Sydney expansion updates.
However, we are excited to immediately announce Eric Pearson who will run Brisbane and the Gold Coast for SYL Australia. This is a masterstroke for us in the fact that he has been well known to us for 22 years and is well known in industry circles. He is a seasoned superyacht captain, a consummate yachting professional and has a massive knowledge of the industry and how it functions; of Captains, Crew, owners and Guests, he understands it all. Not only that he has a wealth of engineering experience and has run shipyard projects and refits.
It is important to us that ALL our staff have had hands on, full time superyacht experience for at least three or four years; whether it be captains, engineers, stews or deckies. There is no way to fully understand this industry unless you have worked onboard and ‘walked the walk’!”
