Expat Marine Launches Claims Guide for yachts
In conjunction with the Shipowner’s P&I Club specialist yacht insurance broker Expat Marine is pleased to announce the launch of their new Claims Guide for yacht owners and captains. The guide has been compiled with significant input from the claims department of Shipowners and also advice from established Hull and Machinery insurers and lawyers who specialise with yachts. The manual is the first in a line of publications for clients designed to assist in the risk management of their yachts and to help them through the insurance process which can sometimes be somewhat daunting.
Colin Dawson, head of Expat Marine, has been a specialist with yacht insurance for the past 20 years. In this time he has handled all manner of claims with numerous different insurers. He commented that ‘in many situations claims are made more complicated by owners and captains not necessarily understanding the claims process and their part in this. This manual is designed to dispel some myths and give advice as to how to make unfortunate situations less of a headache, resulting in a better outcome for the Owner’
