SYL Japan announces Olympic Superyacht Berths
SYL Japan has announced superyacht berths for the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. SYL Japan’s official dockage are for the games will be in Yokohama, part of the Greater Tokyo metropolitan area and a short drive from many Olympic venues.
“We have currently secured 750 meters of linear dockage and are pushing for a further 200 meters of linear dockage and 100 meters of stern to dockage. We can accept any size yacht as long as their air-draft is less than 55 meters.” says Hiroshi Kusu, General manager of SYL Japan.
Most of the dockage will be at the new HamaHead Marina site near Minatomirai CBD in Yokohama, a stunning city scape skyline, with an abundance of shops, restaurants, train stations and car access. Overflow dockage will be close by at Yamashita Futo and Pacifico North.
SYL Japan will have various bi-lingual support staff on hand to assist yacht with everything they need to operationally prepare for and entertain guests onboard. Kusu explains “Provisioning is easy here with really good fresh meat, vegetable and fish markets close by; and Costco is 15 minutes away too, which is great for crew provisioning and staple items for yachts.”
SYL Japan also reports that they have a proposal into the city to add concrete floating pontoons to the site and are pushing to have at least one of these in place before the Olympics start. “We hope to have a 200 metre superyacht pontoon in place” continues Kusu, “we are negotiating this with the city now and are very hopeful that this will be done before the summer games.”
Yachts interested in dockage for the Olympics are advised to contact SYL Japan as soon as possible to book their spot and email: yokohama@superyachtlogistics.com
