APSA Chairman’s Message 30 November 2021
Dear APSA Members
The new APSA 10th Anniversary Edition of the APSA Guide has received a lot of positive comments. We did a short print run in the Netherlands (to avoid costly transportation) and it was presented to APSA Members at METSTRADE. Another print run is now under way in Hong Kong for distribution to the Asia-Pacific APSA members. Meanwhile, while the online edition can be found on the APSA website under ‘Publications’. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
This newsletter celebrates another of our Founder Members; Mike Simpson, the founder of Simpson Marine, who has been based in Asia for nearly four decades. He has created an extensive network of 11 offices throughout Asia, which is why Simpson Marine is well-positioned to benefit from the region’s growing superyacht market.
New superyachts continue to arrive in Asia, with a Sanlorenzo SX 88 now in Singapore at One 15 Marina, where it is available for viewing. Brokerage sales continue at a fast pace, with Yachtzoo reporting the sale of the 36.5m (120ft) Christensen M/Y SILENT WORLD II to an Australian buyer, and Burgess Asia team selling the 33.9m (111.2ft) Feadship Lagoon Cruiser MOON SAND TOO.
With new Covid variations on the horizon, there will no doubt be more travel restrictions and quarantine regulations continuing to disrupt travel. However, this has had a positive knock-on effect for the growth of the superyacht industry in the Asia-Pacific region. David Good, CEO of Superyacht Australia, said “Australia has the largest domestic Superyacht fleet in Asia-Pacific, and it has almost doubled in size and number during the last 12 months.” Superyacht Australia has recently announced the date of their next ‘Superyacht Australia Soirée 2022’, so ‘Save the Date’ for the third annual Superyacht Australia Soirée to be held on the 26 February 2022 at Jones Bay, Sydney, Australia.
Stay safe and stay connected!
