Australia on show: Internationals and yachts set to descend on Australian Superyacht Rendezvous

Australia’s growing superyacht movement continues to spark international interest with partners and glamour yachts lining up to be a part of this year’s Australian Superyacht Rendezvous to be staged at Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard (GCCM) on 17 and 18 May.

Signalling the growing prominence of the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous on the world superyacht calendar, superyacht heavyweights – owners, industry stalwarts and leading influencers - are flying in from across the globe including Monaco, United Kingdom, USA, New Zealand, Asia, Vanuatu, Fiji and New Caledonia to attend.

Trenton Gay, CEO of GCCM and organiser of the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous says this year’s event is all about celebrating Australia’s appeal as a uniquely intrepid travel destination for superyachts.

“Thanks to factors such as Australia’s year-round cruising climate, growing global awareness of our adventure driven charter experiences and a host of high-profile international events like the America’s Cup being hosted in our region over the next few years, it’s an exciting time for our industry, and for the entire Pacific region, to put a global spotlight on what we collectively offer,” Mr Gay said.

“It’s exciting to see some of the biggest marine and luxury brands globally and nationally step on board to be a part of this event and we are seeing many of these partners increase their involvement this year,” he said.

“With so many internationals attending this year, for the first time ever, we are proud to showcase Australia’s luxury superyacht, tourism and hospitality with an exclusive concierge service curating experience packages with private jet and yachting experiences for our guests.

“Australia’s superyacht potential will be on show like never before.”

Mr Gay added that Australia’s finest superyachts were jostling to be a part of Australian Superyacht Rendezvous 2019 with the line-up due to be announced soon.

The stellar line-up of event partners and participants for 2019 Australian Superyacht Rendezvous include the world’s oldest shipbuilder, Italian superyacht giant Benetti, luxury swiss watch manufacturer Ulysse Nardin, private jet company – Adagold Aviation, international yacht transport specialists – Peters & May and worldwide yachting association – MYBA along with industry heavy hitters  Aqualuma, Aurora Global Logistics, International paints, DYT Yacht Transport, Northrop & Johnson and Seal Superyachts.  Other Australian partners are Abell Point Marina, City of Gold Coast, Gineico, Hardy Brothers, H20 Yachts, Pacific Trim and Quality Marine Clothing.

Peter Mahony, APAC General Manager of Benetti Yachts says Australia is a dynamic and developed market that is being closely watched with keen interest internationally.

“Clearly, the destination and personality of Australian boating community are a perfect fit for yachting lifestyles and the Benetti brand where owner enjoyment, family use and multi-level entertainment platforms are a priority,” Mr Mahony said.

“The Australian Superyacht Rendezvous captures and promotes the unique Australian joie de vivre in a relaxed atmosphere and offers a perfect synergy for Benetti’s vision of future yachting.  From business perspective, for Benetti, it is where many of our best Australian connections are made,” he said.

With the Gold Coast considered to be Australia’s marine industry capital, the 2019 Australian Superyacht Rendezvous will headline a blockbuster 11-day program of marine events on the Gold Coast including Superyacht Australia’s ASMEX Conference followed by the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) and Marinas 19 Conference with many national and international players expected to attend multiple events.

Established in 2017, the prestigious annual two-day Australian Superyacht Rendezvous showcases the Australian superyacht industry, its capabilities and economic potential along with Australia’s destination appeal, marking it as a uniquely intrepid travel destination for superyacht charters for luxury holiday-makers.

Around 20 of Australia’s finest superyachts, available for both sale and charter, will once again line up for the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous which brings together those with a business and personal interest in yachting – in particular high net worth individuals from around the globe - in a bid to prosper Australia’s superyacht industry.
