Burgess' Asia Team has Another Good Year in 2023
On the Brokerage side, the Asia team advised sellers on the transaction of a 90m+ Oceanco, the 85m Lurssen AMATASIA (now GIGIA, for charter with Burgess), the 74m Amels LADY E and the 61m Amels EVENT, while completing the new build and delivery of a 42m Ferretti Custom Line, and progressing the new build of a 38m Rosetti. Burgess also obtained new exclusive sales mandates for the 55m Amels PAPA, the 52m Codecasa ATLAS, the brand new 42m Heysea SONG OF SONGS and a brand new 42M CUSTOM LINE NAVETTA.
Since setting up the Asia operation in 2015, Burgess transacted more than 30 yachts for Asia clients, averaging 54m in length and representing a total transaction value above USD 1.5 billion. On the Charter side, the Asia team welcomed 85m Silveryachts WANDERLUST and 68m Abeking & Rasmussen STARLUST in the global charter fleet, while completing about 30 central agency and direct charters on yachts from 30-90m. Finally, the Burgess Asia Yacht Management fleet in 2023 comprised 10 yachts from 35-85m cruising in various destinations, globally and for which Burgess provided a mix of operational, administrative, financial and crew management services.
The suite of owner services offered by Burgess Asia makes ownership so much easier. Chairman Asia Jean-Marc Poullet commented: “Despite a subdued Asia market this year, our deep relationships and proven large yachts expertise cultivated over many years resulted in a very strong 2023. I want to thank our excellent ‘glocal’ (global-local) Asia team which worked very hard the whole year to achieve this result.”
Partner and Head of Brokerage Asia Mark Woodmansey added: “While we had strong success in the 50m+ segment in 2023, we are equally focused on expanding our activities in the 30-50m range and look forward to recruiting more brokers specialised in that segment.”
