Chairman's Message 30 Aug 2024
Dear APSA Members and Friends
There is plenty happening on the superyacht scene, with the European yacht shows 'season' about to start. APSA will be at both Cannes and Monaco, with Committee members Joe Yuen and Antony Cowie attending the Cannes Yachting Festival, and Committee members Christophe Ceard, Alex Teji, Gordon Fernandes and Antony Cowie in Monaco where they look forward to welcoming everyone to APSA’s signature event.
The Asia Superyacht Night (Monaco) will be held on Tuesday 24 September 2024, and many thanks go to our sponsors: Asia Pacific Superyachts (APS) who have come onboard as the Platinum sponsor, Gold sponsors YACHTZOO, Maritime Cook Islands, Hill Dickinson, Setouchi DMO and Fema Marine, and Silver sponsors Frigomar, Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, and Superyacht Australia.
This year’s Asia Superyacht Night will celebrate the charms of the Southeast Asia cruising grounds with Thailand, the Maldives, Seychelles, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia all being represented. Thai dancers will welcome guests in true Asian style, so please let us know if you are planning to attend this invitation-only event (which, of course, is free to all APSA members). With over 200 guests expected to attend, it is important to register, and the deadline for your RSVP is 10 September. Invitations are being sent out to all APSA members this week, so please let us know if you will be attending so your place can be allocated.
Remember, this is an invitation-only event, and you do need to register. If you’re not on the list, you won't get in.
Also, don’t forget that the APSA AGM precedes the Asia Superyacht Night on 24 September, and I encourage you all to attend and play an active role in the Association’s future.
Other news this month includes the impressive line-up of superyacht world premieres by Ferretti, Benetti, Gulf Craft and Sanlorenzo at both the Cannes and Monaco Yacht Shows, a wrap up of the successful Fiji Superyacht Rendezvous organised by Superyacht Australia, and an update from Indies Trader on their offerings of some of the best kite and wing foiling experiences on the market at their private Marshall Islands hide-away, Beran Island.
Finally, I would like to welcome Island Sailors Maldives, who is a returning member of APSA. Mohamed Nasheed the founder of Island Sailors Maldives says, “we are very pleased to re-joining APSA. We believe that it is a great organization which cannot be missed to be part of, for the development of the superyacht industry in Asia and beyond.” With more members and more superyacht events on the Asia-Pacific calendar it makes for a stronger and more active superyacht community.
Enjoy your time on the water, whether at a boat show or cruising the beautiful coastlines of Asia.
Best Regards
Nigel Beatty (APSA Chairman)
