Chairman’s Message, 31 August 2021
Dear APSA Members and Friends,
Navigating the Covid world continues to be a major challenge. Much of the southern hemisphere is locked down and travel to Australia and New Zealand will probably have to wait until next year. The Northern Hemisphere on the other hand seems to be opening up and this looks more and more like being a permanent situation as more of the populate are fully vaccinated.
To this end APSA is delighted to announce that our ‘Superyacht Night’ at the Monaco Yacht Show is back! We will be celebrating our Association’s 10th Anniversary this year, at the rooftop venue of the Hotel Novotel Monte Carlo on 21 September. This will definitely will be a milestone for APSA, even if it cannot be the usual 200+ person event that it has been in recent years. APSA will follow Covid restrictions and social distancing measures and we will limit the numbers that can attend, so we ask for your understanding. Sponsors are now onboard and will be announced soon, and invitations are being prepared, so please let us know if you or one of your team plans on being there.
Back in Asia, and superyachts are still hot ticket items. The Sanlorenzo superyacht fleet continues to grow, Sevenstar Yacht Transportation is busier than ever, and Burgess has had a bumper year with 5 superyacht being snapped up making local brokers very happy, and 20 superyachts sold into the region since 2015.
We continue our Founders’ Profile series with excellent colleague, Christophe Ceard, current Vice Chairman of APSA (and for the past five years) and a stalwart of the superyacht Industry. He continues to champion Asia to the European superyacht community, and we thank him in advance for all his effort in making the APSA Monaco event happen this year.
Updating the APSA Guide is currently underway, so please reply to Suzy’s email and confirm your company details. We don’t want to be publishing any incorrect information!
I will be heading to Monaco next week in preparation for the show. I look forward to an opportunity to meet with members face to face, but please remember that greetings are restricted to elbows only - and make sure you are vaccinated!
Stay safe!
