Chairman’s Message 31 July 2025

Dear APSA Members and Friends,
July was a busy month for APSA members in Hong Kong, who met to discuss superyacht initiatives and ‘Marine Tourism’ developments being introduced by the Hong Kong Government. APSA is working in conjunction with the HKBIA, and will submit recommendations and provide expert knowledge, in the lead up to the Chief Executive’s 4th Policy address in September 2025, during the HK Government’s consultation period that runs from June to August.
There is plenty of Asia-Pacific news this month, with Praxis further strengthening its Yacht Services Team with the appointment of two specialist accountants, reflecting the evolving needs of superyacht owners who are seeking greater oversight and control of their financial affairs. The construction of the Bali Benoa Marina, Indonesia’s first full-service international yacht marina, is a pivotal step in positioning Bali as one of Southeast Asia’s premier yachting destinations. Sanlorenzo Asia Pacific (APAC) has announced a strategic partnership with Thailand yachting entrepreneur Vrit Yongsakul to establish Sanlorenzo Thailand, and Rivergate Marina & Shipyard sponsored the 2025 Captains’ and VIP Lunch that was held as part of the programme at this year’s Australia Tahiti Rendezvous.
Sponsored by GCCM, the Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race will start on 01 August 2025; this offshore race has rapidly established itself as a smart choice for savvy yacht owners, evidenced by the fact that entries for the 2025 race have already eclipsed size of the 2024 fleet. In Hong Kong, the Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) was delighted to welcome Andrew Chapman, Chairman of the Marine Industry Association, who presented the Club with its ‘5 Gold Anchor Platinum and Superyacht Ready Marina’ accreditation. Quality Marine Clothing (QMC) has a new partnership agreement as the official uniform sponsor for the South Pacific chapter of the International SeaKeepers Society, and this reflects a shared commitment to excellence, professionalism, and sustainability within the marine industry.
APSA’s next major event will be the APSA ‘Asia Superyacht Night’ on Tuesday 23 September on the rooftop of the Novotel Hong Kong. Fema Marine has signed up as our Patronage Sponsor; YACHTZOO and Maritime Cook Islands have come on board as Gold Sponsors, and Frigomar and Setouchi DMO are our Silver Sponsors. We still have some sponsorship slots available, so please let us know if your company is interested in coming on board!
Enjoy your time on the water, as I will be doing in Japan!
Best regards
Nigel Beatty APSA Chairman
