GMT Climbs Travel Weekly’s 2020 Power List
Global Marine Travel (GMT) continues to climb the Travel Weekly Power List as a high-valued Travel Management Company within the Maritime Industry, earning its new stripes at #43 in 2020 over #47 in 2019.
GMT credits its new ranking with a banner year in 2019 as it went through a strategic merger with its new parent company, V.Group, leading to a reorganization of balanced services and pricing for the internal V.Ships fleet, and investing more development dollars into GMT’s unique online portal for the cruise-only agency community, CruiseLink, which alone grossed the company $30 million in 2019.
In addition to GMT’s round-the-clock customer service and dedicated support teams, the new website, has launched their latest B2B product Fly2C. This allows in-house travel arrangers to be able to search and book flights for their own ship’s crew through a desktop, smartphone or tablet. Further agency acquisitions such as Argo Marine Travel in Greece have also expanded the business opportunities.
Travel Weekly surveyed companies with a minimum of $100 million in travel sales certified by a company’s owner, CEO or CFO. Sales were defined as gross sales of travel products worldwide, for leisure or business travel. Participating companies were required to verify at least 15 percent of total sale volume was generated nationally.
Looking ahead as travel continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, GMT will continue to drive operational efficiencies under a strong executive leadership team, and further implementation of digital technologies for our customers, and a strategic network of globally stationed travel experts supported by a highly skilled centralized service centre model.
