Premier Shipyard Unveils New Shiplift System, a game-changing 1,800-ton shiplift system sets new standard for superyacht services in Asia. Building on its legacy of continuous investment in facility expansion and enhancement, the Horizon Group is proud to announce the completion of a state-of-the- art shiplift system at its Premier Shipyard in June 2025.
This milestone achievement, the result of two years of development, reinforces the group’s position as a leading provider of diverse services to yacht owners worldwide and cements the shipyard’s position as a top-tier destination for refits and maintenance. Situated on 656 feet (200 meters) of waterfront property at the Port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Premier Shipyard spans 260,000 square feet (24,000 square meters) of private yard space.
Designed to accommodate 230 feet-plus (70 meters+) yachts, it is the go-to centre for superyacht refit and maintenance in the region. The new Pearlson Shiplift System measures 197 feet (60 meters) by 45 feet (13.7 meters) and has an impressive capacity up to 1,800 metric tons. “We are very excited about this latest upgrade with the new Pearlson Shiplift System, as it marks a significant step in the Horizon Group’s ongoing expansion,” said John Lu, CEO of Horizon Group. “The shiplift provides our shipyard with vastly increased capabilities and capacity, helping to fulfill unprecedented demand for global superyacht owners.”
For decades, Premier Shipyard has cultivated a robust reputation through close collaboration with leading classification societies, including Bureau Veritas (BV), Lloyd’s Register (LR), Registro Italiano Navale (RINA), and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The yard’s proven track record includes servicing over 30 yachts worldwide, encompassing esteemed brands such as Feadship and Riva, and completing refits on vessels measuring up to 227 feet (69 meters).
