20th Superyacht brokered by Burgess' Asia team
Last week Burgess announced the sale of LIND in an in-house deal with Mark Woodmansey and Eleonora Pitasso representing the seller. This brings the total of yachts brokered by Burgess in Asia to five in 2021, so far - already as many as sold throughout 2019, their last record year.
In addition to LIND, Burgess in Asia has closed on four other yachts for Asian clients since the beginning of this year including 44.2m (145ft) Feadship MOON SAND. 46.7m (153.2ft) Heesen BOOK ENDS, 65.7m (215.6ft) Amels VENTUM MARIS, and a 70m+ confidential deal. This reinforces Burgess' position as the undisputed leader in superyacht brokerage in Asia.
Burgess currently represents several quality yachts for sale on behalf of Asia clients including 91.5m (300.1ft) Oceanco TRANQUILITY, 88.5m (290.4ft) Pride Mega Yachts Illusion Plus. 60.1m (197.2ft) Feadship PARAFFIN, 43m (141.1ft) ISA AGORA III, 33.9m (111.2ft) Feadship MOON SAND TOO and Couach Yachts' HUMMINGBIRD 30.4m (99.6ft).
The 20 yacht sales brokered since 2015 comprise some of the largest transactions globally including 85m (279.9ft) Lurssen ARETI purchased in 2019 - another in-house Burgess deal, with the Asia team representing the buyer. The average size of these 20 yachts was an impressive 51m, and more than half of the yachts were built in Northern Europe.
'This is obviously a nice milestone for our Asia team,' Chairman Asia, Jean-Marc Poullet commented. 'It is rewarding passion, team spirit, expertise and hard work to give our clients the best possible advise on the market and get them the best possible deal, be they buyers or sellers.'
Head of Brokerage Asia, Mark Woodmansey added, 'While we have been very successful in the large yachts segment, we are equally excited to bring to our clients great opportunities in the 30-50m segment, including new build or very recent yachts which we source globally via Burgess' networks and shipyards relationships.'
While Burgess is the global industry leader, it did not have a full operation in Asia until 2015, when a first office was opened in Singapore. Burgess has been voted ‘Best International Brokerage Firm in Asia’ several times and nine of its team members are included in YachtStyle’s list of Asia’s 100 yachting leaders.
Burgess' 20-strong Asia team is spread over five offices (Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Phuket and Mumbai) and its Asia Desk in Monaco. Most of Burgess’ team members in the region are Asians who collectively can operate in most local languages, and six colleagues are native or fluent in Mandarin.
Besides yacht brokerage, Burgess offers charter and yacht management services to its Asian clients. In addition to advising clients, the Asia team’s second ‘mission’ is to promote and develop Asia’s fabulous cruising destinations and Phuket as a regional yachting hub.
