2nd Asia- Pacific Superyacht Summit Announced
The Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit is set to reconvene for its second edition at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel in Hong Kong on 7 and 8 May 2025, and APSA is pleased to a Supporting Partner. Proposed line up of topics to include: Japan as a superyacht destination, Vietnam Government’s interest in yachting, Family Offices and yachting, and the refit market in Asia. SYTs would like your input on suggested topics and speakers.
The Potential of Japan as a Superyacht Destination: Due to its extensive coastline spanning over 35,000 kilometres, Japan is becoming recognised as a prime destination for superyachts. Last year, the Japanese government revised regulations for foreign-registered superyachts, streamlining bureaucratic processes. These reforms have enhanced Japan’s competitiveness, further aligning it with other top superyacht destinations. This panel discussion will explore the measures Japan has implemented to enhance its appeal as a superyacht destination, and the additional steps required to fulfill its potential.
Vietnam’s Government Interest in Yachting: What does it mean for the industry? December 2024, Vietnam's Ministry of Transport announced a draft decision aimed at transforming yachting into a flagship tourism service by 2030. Spearheaded by Hoang Hong Giang, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the proposal seeks to establish Vietnam as a competitive player in the global yachting market. The panel will discuss Vietnam's strategic decision to promote itself as a superyacht destination and the initiatives underway to achieve this goal.
How Family Offices Look at Yachting: This panel will explore the perspectives of family offices on yachting, examining their investment strategies, usage patterns, and the role yachts play in their broader wealth management and lifestyle considerations. The discussion will explore how these private wealth management firms view yachting as an asset, a luxury, and a potential tool for client relations and family legacy building.
How to Grow the Refit Market in Asia? With the increasing number of yachts visiting the Asia-Pacific region, the need for top tier refit and maintenance facilities is more critical than ever. This discussion will explore what changes are necessary to promote a thriving refit market and whether there is a case for establishing a top-tier refit yard in the region. Presentations on marina developments across the Asia-Pacific region. Recent announcements have highlighted several marina projects across the Asia-Pacific region. This session will feature presentations on these developments, exploring the motivations behind their initiation, and the expected impacts on local, as well as regional, yachting communities.
