Another Successful Season for IMG
The clocks have gone back, the days are shorter and the 2016/17 summer season is drawing to a close here in New Zealand. Integrated Marine Group has just completed another busy season, mainly with an extensive refit on MY Senses as well as yacht support for our returning clients. In fact, all yachts this year were returning customers which speaks volumes for the “IMG” experience. Most yachts have now set sail for the South Pacific islands for the winter months but many have promised to return, one season is never enough to cover all the delights. We hear great reports from yachts experiences in New Zealand, the South Pacific and the Asia Pacific regions, many of our clients have now committed to cruise exclusively within this collective region.
As always our annual charitable golf tournament was a big success, this season the players and sponsors raised $3,000 for the Coastguard NZ’s Safe Boating Scheme which teaches water safety to children. These funds were used to purchase a safety training vessel for schools and community groups in the located bottom of our South Island. The tournament was held in December at the Waitemata Golf Club here in Auckland. We look forwards to running the event again at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, entry is open to all visiting yacht crew and marine industry professionals.
The Millennium Cup in January was another highlight of the NZ season, 3 days of superyacht racing in the beautiful Bay of Islands, we highly recommend it to all visiting sailing yachts. Congratulations to this year’s winner SY Tawera, 2nd place SY Janice of Wyoming and 3rd place SY Farfalla. This event has become increasingly popular each year in no small part due to the delights of sailing in the famous Bay of Islands. The unique waterfront venue setting and atmosphere that the historic seaside settlement of Russell provides for the social events and prize giving provides a fitting conclusion to a day’s sailing.
We anticipate a busy and varied 2017/18 season with many yachts already expected with some exciting cruising itineraries wish lists to plan.
