Lantau Yacht Club (LYC): Awarded Platinum 5 Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready Marina Accreditation

The Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) recently welcomed Andrew Chapman, Chairman of the Marine Industry Association Chairman, and Suzy Rayment, Executive Director Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association to the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum and Superyacht Ready Marina accreditation presentation from the Marina Industries Association (MIA).
Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) was awarded its prestigious 5 Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready accreditations during Covid but a resent reassessment resulted in their 5 gold Anchor being upgraded to a Platinum level making it one of Asia’s most advanced and service-oriented marinas, and highlighting its excellence in operations, facilities, and hospitality.
The 5 Gold Anchor Platinum status represents the highest tier under the internationally recognised Global Gold Anchor Scheme, which assesses marinas across more than 90 criteria. These include service quality, environmental standards, infrastructure, and amenities. Platinum-level marinas are known for delivering a premium experience tailored to the diverse needs of modern boaters, including those operating superyachts.
Andrew Chapman, Chairman of the Marina Industry Association (MIA) said, “There are 180 international marinas who have been awarded the International Gold Anchor Accreditation, and only the top 5 % of these marinas ever reach the Platinum level. Lantau Yacht Club has received the Platinum Award in recognition for the superyacht facilities, services, and expertise that they offer. They are one of only five marinas in Asia who is able to fly the Platinum Anchor Award. Congratulations to the whole team at Lantau Yacht Club.”
LYC is currently the first and only marina in Hong Kong to receive both distinctions, reflecting its capability to host the most sophisticated yachts in the region. Located on stunning Lantau Island, the LYC marina features 148 berths ranging from 10 to 60 metres, which can berth superyachts of up to approximately 100 metres. Purpose-built to international standards, the marina offers a typhoon-sheltered harbour and cutting-edge facilities to ensure a safe, secure, and seamless experience for all boaters.
Alex Lee, Director of Membership & Marketing Auberge Hospitality at LYC, explained, “We combine world-class facilities with cutting-edge technology and personalised member experiences to set the benchmark for luxury yachting in Hong Kong. As Hong Kong cements its position as a premier yachting destination, we remain committed to fostering a dynamic community where industry leaders and enthusiasts connect, innovate, and elevate the future of yachting."
The Clubhouse offers a variety of premium amenities including Caffè Napoli, the Private Dining Room, Entertainment Room, The Lawn, and a BBQ area – ideal for social gatherings and events. Members also enjoy access to sister clubs and hospitality facilities under Auberge Hospitality, including the Discovery Bay Golf Club and the Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong hotel.
Elena Cheung, Director of Club operations "This accreditation marks a pivotal moment for LYC and Hong Kong’s yachting industry. Our superyacht-ready facilities cater to the most discerning owners. We look forward to welcoming international yachting elites and further solidifying our role as the gateway to Asia’s finest cruising destinations."
MIA President Andrew Chapman said he wasn’t surprised by the assessment outcome, explaining, "LYC is an impressive marina that incorporates a full-service resort, amazing leisure facilities, and some of the best food and beverage in Hong Kong. There are not too many facilities in Asia that can do it as well as Lantau Yacht Club.”
