Marevisio’s Code of Good Practice

From experience Godfrey Zwygart, a marine consultant from Marevisio knows that being a crew or captain on a super yacht is a challenging job. It requires a lot of technical knowledge as well as a very high EQ to handle human relationships. A good crew is a hands-on, do-it-all, non-nonsense, down to earth employees. The role necessitates well rounded knowledge and crew members are great technicians, managers, seamen, hosts, psychologists, tour guides, butlers and entertainers. They are the ultimate problem solvers and creative people.

We  have recently created a “CODE OF GOOD PRACTICE” with an assessment criteria for yacht crew. While technical requirements for super yacht crew are quite strict, over the years we felt that in other areas there was very little training on offer, and that crew members mostly had to rely on experience.

At Marevisio we have created and now provide a number of courses available in English and Chinese. These cover general technical background and hospitality: yacht management, personal grooming, guests’ reception, general etiquette, table etiquette, quality service [Food & Beverages], and wines & spirits knowledge).

These courses are an excellent asset for any new crew or staff, and an excellent tool for old hands to refresh their acquired knowledge. They are primarily aimed at improving the level of service of Chinese crew. We started coaching crews and teams in China, and when traveling is allowed, we will expand our scope to the rest of Asia.
