The George Group/Howden Yachts Strengthens Presence In Hong Kong

With the recent spate of yacht losses from all manner of risks from fire to heavy weather to crew error the yacht insurance market is set to continue to be a very difficult place in which to operate, with insurers being even more nervous of the risks they are prepared to take on.

With the obvious change in weather patterns playing havoc and the continuing severe losses due to fire the insurance market will be looking to see how it can reduce the number of losses it is exposed to while at the same time looking after clients’ needs. The George Group has been involved with the superyacht industry and yacht owners for many years and with specialists running the yacht insurance team the firm is well placed to look after owners and industry in the way clients need – honest, open, transparent and upfront with discussions while at the same time seeking bespoke covers to suit the needs of the client.

We find ourselves in relative unchartered waters with an insurance market that has been challenging for longer than the normal time cycle and an uncertain future following recent events. It is now more important than ever to present a solid and well thought out risk to insurers for their consideration as anything that makes them feel uncomfortable is likely to result in a risk being declined. The George Group has evolved a bit over the past few months and with the departure of a couple of our team we have welcomed two new and enthusiastic members in Torben Nielson and Jason Cheung. Both are born and raised in Hong Kong with an international perspective on life.

With our long standing local and regional expertise, partnered with the global reach of Howden we are well placed to handle all manner of risks to ensure that a client has full and proper insurance in place with respected and trustworthy insurers.
