In a historic development for the Cook Islands and the broader South Pacific maritime sector,Eleanor Keukura Roi, Chief Executive Officer of the Cook Islands Shipowners Association (CISOA), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the prestigious Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA). The significant appointment took place during the ASA’s 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which convened this week in Jakarta.

Horizon FD90 LiTHIUM+ Unveiled: Heritage Forged in Design

Horizon Yachts’ FD Series line up welcomes a new member: the FD90 Hull 33, christened LiTHIUM+. This yacht is the second to be owned by the same family and builds on the legacy of the original LiTHIUM. The lithium namesake is a nod to the family’s connection to the mining industry, and its design centres around a warm and inclusive environment that embodies the family’s core values. Prioritizing generous volume and comfort, LiTHIUM+ features a full-beam, on-deck master stateroom and four ensuite VIPs, plus two crew cabins for up to five crew members, including a Captain’s cabin. The main deck’s galley-aft layout creates an open, flowing space that extends seamlessly to the outdoor living spaces aft. Up top, the hydraulic folding radar mast makes room for passing bridges.

The George Group Gathering in Hong Kong

The George Group along with Cowie & Co and Lodestone Yachts, was pleased to be to be sponsors of the recent Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit and in the lead up to the Summit, hosted a private dinner for 22 guests from 11 countries. Helped by good food and some superb wines the state of the superyacht industry was well and truly examined. Following from a successful inaugural dinner in 2024 this looks to become a fixture for future Summits. Colin Dawson from The George Group commented ‘the Summit this year was better attended and more intense than the inaugural event in 2024.

Asia Pacific’s New Marinas Attract Superyachts

Superyacht cruising in Asia-Pacific has enormous growth potential when compared with the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. Unlike the usual superyacht playgrounds of summer Med cruising and the Caribbean in the winter, the sailing season in Asia Pacific is year-round with more yachts coming eastward to lengthen their charter season and enjoy the region’s amazing cruising grounds and unique cultural experiences.

Gulf Craft Opens Advanced Yacht-Manufacturing Training Centre

Gulf Craft has recently opened a purpose-built inhouse Yacht Manufacturing Training Centre at its Umm Al Quwain shipyard. This significant certification confirms that 100% of the marina’s annual electricity consumption — totalling 3,414 MWh in 2024 — is now sourced entirely from renewable energy.
