2020 Australian Marine Industry Awards

Despite the ongoing implications of covid-19, AIMEX, ACMG and Superyacht Australia continue to promote Australia’s first-class marine services. The 2020 Australian marine industry awards remain open and the submission deadline has been extended to Tuesday 30 June to ensure that the time is right, and the stars of the Australian Marine industry can be honoured and acknowledged.

SYBAss and LYBrA withdraw from Monaco Yacht Show 2020

SuperyachtNews has revealed that both SYBAss and LYBRA have withdrawn participation in Monaco Yacht Show 2020. A letter sent to Informa, and seen by SuperyachtNews, explains that both associations, who acted cooperatively through this process, have doubts over the safety of the show, the ability and/or willingness for clients to attend and whether the show is appropriate within the context of the global pandemic. The letter further outlines general discontent with how the show has been run in recent years. SYBAss accounts for 20 of the world’s premier superyacht manufacturers and LYBRA accounts for eight of the world’s leading superyacht brokerage houses.

Yachting industry in Sri Lanka

The foundations for the [Sail Lanka Yachting Group](https://saillankayachtinggroup.com/about-us/)can be found in the [Building A Future Foundation,](http://www.baflk.org/) a long term project created to provide training and employment to underprivileged youth following the tsunami disaster of end 2004. The focus of the Foundation is to develop skills that will seed the yachting industry, and a major part of the project is supporting businesses that help to develop the recreational boat industry, as well create of sustainable jobs for hundreds of talented youth.

Lantau Yacht Club: More than a Marina!

Discovery Bay’s high-end resort-style residential community is soon to open the first of its kind superyacht marina in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has long been substantially short of marina berths for yachts of all shapes and sizes. The Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) is a welcome addition for the superyacht community in Asia, and members from the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA) recently toured the LYC Resort-Marina facility. APSA members from AON (HK), Brookes Bell, Camper & Nicholsons First Eastern, Expat Marine Services, M Yachts, Marsh JLT, Rosemont and Simpson Marine visited the marina, golf club and hotel facilities, and were suitably impressed and excited to see a new marina coming online.
