The Islands of Tahiti Welcomes Superyachts

On 15 July, [the islands of Tahiti](https://tahititourisme.com/en-us/tahiti-activities/cruises-and-sailing/onboard-superyacht-cruise-sailing/) reopened their borders to foreign yachts and visitors. Thanks to early measures taken by the government, and the collaborative effort of the local population, French Polynesia has only had a few active cases of COVID-19 with no casualties. The country has managed to control the spread of the pandemic and the islands of Tahiti are now COVID-19 free.

METS CANCELLED

METSTRADE and RAI Amsterdam announced with great sadness that the Marine Equipment Trade Show, which was scheduled on 17-19 November in RAI Amsterdam, has been cancelled. For more than 32 years, METSTRADE has been providing the most complete meeting place for the global marine industry. Due to the consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak, our mission cannot be accomplished successfully, therefore we believe it is the right decision to cancel this year’s show. METSTRADE 2021 will take place on 16-18 November 2021 in RAI Amsterdam.

Introducing the CEYCAT

Cannes Yachting Festival 2020 is Cancelled

The 2020 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival has been cancelled, according to reports and it is understood that organiser Reed Expositions is now reaching out to exhibitors to informing them of the news. The official cancellation of the show, which was due to take place from September 8-13, comes after organisers applied for special dispensation from the French government to hold the event.

Thailand Charter Week Postponed to November 2021

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation the Thailand Charter Week 2020 has been postponed to 2021. The new dates are the 12th to the 15th of November 2021. The preliminary plan is for the opening ceremony from 5pm on Friday the 12th of November followed by two days of on and off water displays at the Phuket Yacht Haven. On Monday the 15th all yachts will participate in a cruise in company to Phang Nga Bay before returning to the Yacht Haven marina for the closing party.

Brookes Bell’s new state-of-the art laboratory

The contracts have been signed and construction is about to begin on the new fuel testing, metallurgy and non-destructive testing (NDT) centre. Brookes Bell Chief Technical Officer, Ray Luukas, says: “This is an exciting next step, the contracts have been signed for the fit out, construction commences on 3 August and the building is scheduled to be completed – coronavirus permitting – on 23 October.
