Hong Kong Boating Industry Association: Update Dec 2024

Some years ago, when the then head of MarDep, Roger Tupper, was interviewed by members of the boating media, he noted that he had heard many positive and useful suggestions for the development of boating in Hong Kong, “but Government does not engage with individuals. To engage with Government, the industry needs an Association. The Hong Kong Boating Industry Association was created in 2018 in order to represent the leisure marine sector, especially where Government is concerned. The industry is substantially under-estimated in official circles, and there have long been calls for an increase in numbers of moorings, streamlining of restrictions and regulations, re-thinking of licensing, and more.

Yacht Club de Monaco: YCM Awards and UBS Trophy 2024

For the YCM Awards and its prestigious UBS Trophy, the great Yacht Club de Monaco family gathered under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. This event pays tribute to sporting achievements and officially welcomes new members to the Club. In his speech, the Sovereign recalled YCM’s dual mission as a private club dedicated to its 2,500 members (81 nationalities) and its public service remit that contributes to “making Monaco THE destination of reference for yachting, combining as it does innovation and sustainability”.These values are reflected in its collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ which positions the Club as a key player in protecting the oceans and promoting maritime innovation.

The Southeast Asia Yachting Conference 2025 (SEA Yachting Conference 2025) is set to return, offering a world-class platform to discuss the unique challenges and advantages in the yachting industry across Southeast Asia. Taking place on 8-9 April 2025 at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, this two-day event will bring together a spectrum of international experts and key regional yachting trade to tackle critical topics shaping the Southeast Asia yachting landscape, including Hong Kong and Australasia’s influence in the region.
