Better Boating Series in the Whitsundays

With leisure boat sales on the rise, the Whitsunday region is experiencing unprecedented levels of new visitors this year, many of which are experiencing our spectacular backyard for the first time. In addition, the annual migration of cruising yachts is upon us, with those boat owners deciding to ‘holiday here this year’ and return to Australia’s premier cruising grounds. With a desire to add value to the visitor experience, this year, Coral Sea Marina has launched the Coral Sea Academy, an EduTourism experience with a mission to engage with people wanting to get out on the Whitsunday waters and immerse themselves in the region’s marine environment.

An Invitation from SuperYacht Group Great Barrier Reef (SYGGBR)

SuperYacht Group Great Barrier Reef (SYGGBR), with the support from the Qld Govt, are organising information seminars about cruising the Great Barrier Reef Region. Australian Reef Pilots (Auriga), Torres Strait representatives, our GBR Dive Guides, MSQ, David Good, local captains and GBRMPA will join us to cover the differences between operating superyachts recreationally and as a charter vessel, the access requirements based on length of vessel and the range of experiences across the 3200km length of Queensland coast. All industry and yacht crew are welcome, subject to venue capacity / COVID restrictions and anyone wishing to attend to RSVP for catering purposes as the event is followed by a casual networking event with drinks and nibbles. This event is suited to industry who work with superyachts 24m+ in length.

With just over 2 months to go before the opening of the 2021 edition, the Monaco Yacht Show is fine-tuning its brand-new format dedicated to superyacht end users. The show will be set in a safe environment, with the participation of major players from across the industry.

Chairman’s Message 30 June 2021

This year, APSA celebrates its 10th Anniversary. Although the pandemic is ongoing and we still have some challenges, there are superyacht events being planned for the second half of the year and some countries are now opening more to travellers and superyachts.

Superyacht Captains’ Longer Long Lunch

The first ‘Longer Long Lunch’ was hosted by Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, in conjunction with Catalano Agents NZ. The successful networking event was held at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron(RNZYS) on Thursday 24 June 2021. The lunch was the opportunity for Captains from all over the region to socialise and exchange information and opinions about the region’s place and its prospects in an ever-changing World.

Thailand’s Top 10 Island Yachting Destinations

The Kingdom of Thailand in Southeast Asia is surrounded inland by Myanmar (Burma), Laos, and Cambodia with the other part lying on the Malay Peninsula and neighbouring Malaysia. This area also divides Thailand into two important areas for visiting motor, sailing yachts and superyachts — the eastern Gulf of Thailand and the western Andaman Sea.

Ever since the very beginning of Simpson Marine, which was founded in in Hong Kong in 1984, customer care has been at the heart of what the company does. Mike Simpson, founder of Simpson Marine is committed to taking care of the people they sell boats too. YACHTZOO JAPAN goes cruising on SILENT WORLD II

Nigel Beatty, head of YACHTZOO JAPAN and APSA Chairman was recently cruising on Silent World II, in the Seto Naikai – the Inland Sea of Japan. “We spent 5 days onboard as guests of the owner, enjoying a great cruising, local foods, swimming and water toys,” says Beatty.
