Superyacht Captains’ Longer Long Lunch

The first ‘Longer Long Lunch’ was hosted by Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, in conjunction with Catalano Agents NZ. The successful networking event was held at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron(RNZYS) on Thursday 24 June 2021. The lunch was the opportunity for Captains from all over the region to socialise and exchange information and opinions about the region’s place and its prospects in an ever-changing World.

Thailand’s Top 10 Island Yachting Destinations

The Kingdom of Thailand in Southeast Asia is surrounded inland by Myanmar (Burma), Laos, and Cambodia with the other part lying on the Malay Peninsula and neighbouring Malaysia. This area also divides Thailand into two important areas for visiting motor, sailing yachts and superyachts — the eastern Gulf of Thailand and the western Andaman Sea.

Ever since the very beginning of Simpson Marine, which was founded in in Hong Kong in 1984, customer care has been at the heart of what the company does. Mike Simpson, founder of Simpson Marine is committed to taking care of the people they sell boats too. YACHTZOO JAPAN goes cruising on SILENT WORLD II

Nigel Beatty, head of YACHTZOO JAPAN and APSA Chairman was recently cruising on Silent World II, in the Seto Naikai – the Inland Sea of Japan. “We spent 5 days onboard as guests of the owner, enjoying a great cruising, local foods, swimming and water toys,” says Beatty.

Affinity Group Expansion into Cayman Islands

Affinity Group are delighted to announce our expansion into the Cayman Islands after successfully obtaining a Companies Management Licence from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Headed up by Garry Crossan, operations will now commence via our local subsidiary Affinity (Cayman) Limited. Garry has a longstanding relationship with Affinity having worked closely with our Malta and Isle of Man offices for many years. Resident in Cayman, Garry has enjoyed a career within the Offshore Financial Services Industry for over 30 years, holding executive positions within major International Banks and Trust Companies across multiple jurisdictions.

2032 Brisbane Olympics

The 2032 Olympic Games to be hosted by Brisbane, the “River City” , will undoubtedly be a massive drawcard attracting an influx of superyachts to Australia. The successful bid will put Brisbane on the international map and help to increase Australia’s desirability as a destination for superyachts. The Brisbane River gives superyachts the ability to berth in the city which is relatively unique for a host city and very attractive for owners who are expected to relocate their yacht as their private base when they attend the games.

Chairman’s Message 20 July 2021

We are into the second half of 2021 and the boating industry is reporting a marked recovery from the depths of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are seeing an impressive rebound, especially in the superyacht market which has gone from strength to strength. Sales of new and second-hand superyachts are at levels comparable to the bumper year of 2018, so there are definitely some positive vibes for the industry.
