SuperYacht Times will launch its Asia-Pacific Superyacht Report 2026 at the third Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit, held at La Suite Kobe Oceans Garden in Kobe, Japan on 7 and 8 May 2026.
Following two successful editions in Hong Kong, the Summit moves to Japan for its third year. Ahead of the event, SuperYacht Times Research Analyst Adil Zaman and Head of Intelligence Ralph Dazert have examined regional superyacht movements and ownership patterns across the Asia-Pacific. Their findings will be presented in the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Report 2026, set to launch during the summit. This article offers a preview of some of the report’s key themes.
A Region in Motion

One of the report’s clearest findings is the continued rise in superyacht activity across Asia-Pacific. Between January and December 2025, a total of 586 superyachts over 30 metres were active in the region — up from 530 in 2024 and 445 in 2023.
The figures reflect yacht presence across a full 12-month period, including vessels based in, visiting or transiting through the region.
“More than 20 percent of yachts active in Asia-Pacific exceed 50 metres, compared with 16 percent worldwide — pointing to a relatively strong concentration of larger vessels in the region.”

Ownership Continues to Expand

The report also points to a gradual increase in regional ownership. SuperYacht Times records more than 480 superyachts over 30 metres owned in Asia-Pacific countries, representing 7.7 percent of the global fleet.
Australia accounts for the largest share with 166 yachts, followed by Hong Kong with 92 and China with 59. Together, these figures suggest that while the region remains diverse in terms of activity and maturity, its ownership base is continuing to deepen.
Infrastructure Remains Uneven

While the report identifies clear momentum across the region, it also highlights the structural challenges that continue to shape the market. Marina development is progressing, but not uniformly.
Relatively few marinas in Asia-Pacific are currently capable of accommodating yachts above 50 metres in practice, despite growing interest in attracting the segment. In many cases, the gap between ambition and operational capability remains significant.
