23 May 2026 is World Boating Day — and if you haven’t yet locked in your event, this is your reminder: it’s absolutely not too late to take part. Some of the most engaging experiences are often the simplest ones.
Many of you are already planning or finalising your events. For everyone else, here’s where to begin.
1. Open Your Doors
Host a simple open day at your office, marina, or facilities. A short welcome, a guided tour and informal conversations can go a long way. People are curious about what happens behind the scenes — show them.
2. Behind-the-Scenes, Simplified
Consider offering a focused, intimate experience: a short 30-minute tour, a casual Q&A with your team, or a “meet the makers” moment. These simple formats can open up your day-to-day in a way that feels authentic and engaging.
3. Host a Short Talk or Q&A
Invite your network for a relaxed and informal session. Share how to get into the industry, what a day in yachting really looks like, or the process behind designing, building, or managing boats. The format doesn’t need to be complex; the value lies in open, honest conversation.
4. Go Virtual — Fast and Easy
If logistics are tight, consider taking your event online. A live Instagram session, a short webinar, or a virtual tour of your space can be set up quickly — and allows you to reach a wider audience without the constraints of location.
5. Create a Moment, Not a Full Programme
“Not every event needs to be a full-day experience.”
A simple 1–2 hour gathering, with a short introduction, a walk-through, and a coffee or drink, can create a meaningful and memorable moment for your guests.
6. Collaborate
Partnering with a nearby business, supplier, or school is a great way to co-host a small, engaging event. It brings added perspective, variety and reach, while keeping the effort manageable for everyone involved.
