Hawaii

Oceanic Pacific: the 50th US state, six volcanic islands of surf and lava

Overview

The Hawaiian Islands have long been America's playground, and they understand tourism and hospitality well. Constant trade winds make for great sailing, and ocean swells pile up on the shores to provide some of the best surfing in the world.

The chain of six principal islands is entirely volcanic, making for spectacular geological scenery fringed with tropical sands and deep oceanic blue. Visiting Hawaii is as much about volcanoes pouring molten lava into the sea as it is about beaches and palm trees.

This is the 50th state of the USA, so standard US port clearance and formalities apply. The climate is subtropical: summers (May to October) are moderate and winters very mild.
