As the northern hemisphere’s summer season begins and the rush of pre-season work slows down, HFW brings you the latest edition of Comprehensively Yachts, collated by William Maclachlan (Partner) and Jessica Taylor (Legal Director) from their London office. Full of thought-provoking topics and analysis of current trends, the first article looks at the growing adoption of sustainable technology in yachting. This includes Feadship’s recently launched 60m Project 713, which will harness solar energy and has the capacity to also run on non-fossil hydrogenated vegetable oil, and Project 821, the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht, we also take a look at what may be the next frontier in yacht propulsion: nuclear power.

Simpson Marine Expands in Vietnam

StellarPM’s new Zhuhai Factory

StellarPM has recently secured a new factory in Zhuhai, (PRC). The factory spans an impressive 16,000 square feet (1,700 square meters). Its primary purpose will be to manufacture interiors for StellarPM’s RENEW and New Construction projects. When completed in July, one of the first notable projects scheduled to take place in the factory is the production of a full-scale mock-up of the interiors of Destination ONE the 33-meter (108-foot) motoryacht currently under construction.

Chairman’s Message 20 July 2023

New marinas and shipyard facilities are coming online in Asia, and more superyachts are arriving, which is all adds up to good news for the Asia-Pacific superyacht community. The opening of ONE°15 Marina Nirup Island adds yet another berthing venue in the region, and with the local support voiced by the Indonesian Officials at the opening ceremony, bodes well for the future success of this new facility. Another success story for the region was the 10th Australia Tahiti Rendezvous, sponsored by Benetti Yachts, which drew a gathering of 27 vessels and attracted superyacht captains and crew from around the world.

Cayman Registry Top Rating Flag State

The latest reports are out, and the Cayman Islands continue to be one of the top performing flags in the world, achieving high rankings across the key port state control criterion used to compare Flag State performance based on the number of times vessels are inspected or held at ports, as well as evaluations of the safety and quality of the vessels themselves.
