Singapore

Southeast Asia: a superyacht refit, services and gateway hub

Overview

Singapore is less a cruising ground than the region's most efficient back-up base: a no-nonsense international port where a superyacht can find engineering, repairs, materials, parts, paint and provisioning before sailing on to Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia. Its territorial waters are not much larger than the island itself, but few places in Asia match it for shore support.

Shipyards and marinas here are equipped to handle superyachts, backed by one of the world's best-connected airports at Changi and a deep bench of brokers, managers, surveyors, lawyers and registries. For owners and captains, Singapore is the place to refit, re-crew, re-store and reset between cruising seasons.

It is also the region's flagship show window: the Singapore Yachting Festival is the largest big-boat show in Asia, and the city pairs that industry depth with the dining, hotels and connectivity that make it an easy place to base a programme.
