In 2026, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard marks an extraordinary milestone: its 20th anniversary and two decades at the forefront of Australia’s superyacht industry. From its beginnings as a visionary development on the Brisbane River to becoming one of the most respected refit and service facilities in the Asia-Pacific, Rivergate’s journey has been defined by innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Rivergate celebrated its 20th anniversary in May at the ASMEX VIP Industry Dinner, held in the private dining room at Mamasan restaurant, Broadbeach. Co-owners and Directors Judy Brinsmead AM, Bob Hill and Tom Hill welcomed guests comprising family, friends, tenants, captains, supporters and suppliers – united in their admiration for the achievements of Rivergate over the past 20 years, and for the management team and on-site tenants.
Two Decades of Vision
“We believed Australia would become a superyacht destination and not just a stopover. Brisbane was a natural choice – ideally positioned at the midpoint of the eastern seaboard, with direct access to a major capital city, an international airport and the gateway to Australia’s finest cruising grounds, including the Great Barrier Reef. The river further offers deep water access at all tides. We opened in 2006, after six years of meticulous planning and construction, with our world-class facilities and an unwavering commitment to service excellence. That dedication has earned us global recognition and a repeat client record of which we are very proud.”

Reflecting on the 20-year milestone, General Manager Andrew Cannon pointed to the people and partnerships behind the facility’s success, while looking ahead to a future of continued leadership and ingenuity.
“It’s the people and the partnerships that have shaped Rivergate’s story. At Rivergate we believe the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games will bring great opportunities for growth, as Australia takes the sporting stage. Being located in Brisbane, we are well placed to welcome visiting superyachts and show how our industry has evolved, and the importance of Australia’s role within the global superyacht industry – especially as the Asia-Pacific continues to grow in global yachting significance.”
