The Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA) has outlined its priorities for 2026–2027 following its Annual General Meeting on 26 August, with a focus on stronger industry representation, member opportunities and international engagement. Over the past year, SBIA has continued to rebuild and strengthen its role as the collective voice of Singapore’s recreational marine industry.
The Past Year
- 31 Ordinary Members representing 14 industry sectors
- Merger of the Association of Boat Charter Singapore into SBIA
- Formation of 10 industry clusters to better represent different areas of the marine sector
- Continued participation in the MPA Safety Committee and industry dialogue
- Resumption of regular member communications and activities
- Support for boating, safety and industry events throughout the year
Priorities for 2026–2027
SBIA will focus on four key areas.
Member Development. More technical seminars, workshops and practical industry support, including topics such as engine maintenance and marine electronics.
International Presence. Representing Singapore at international industry events, including the Monaco Yacht Show and the ICOMIA World Marina Conference 2027 in Shanghai.
Government Engagement. Strengthening dialogue with MPA, ICA, STB and other agencies on issues affecting the boating industry.
Member Opportunities. Creating greater exposure, networking and business opportunities for Singapore marine companies locally and internationally.
SBIA will also focus on attracting more international superyachts to Singapore, promoting local shipyard and refit capabilities, and developing charter tourism as part of Singapore’s wider visitor offering.
The stronger the association, the stronger the return to every member.
SBIA’s objective remains to be the leading representative of Singapore’s recreational marine industry and to promote its interests nationally and internationally.
