The Sea Leisure Yachting Group (SLYG) proudly announces finalising the acquisition of the Ocean Voyager brand from the Grand Large Yachting Group in France, consolidating the position of SLYG as one of the leaders in the day charter sailing catamaran market.

 March was a very busy month for the yachting community in Oceania, with a flurry of events taking place in both New Zealand and Australia. In partnership with the 2024 Auckland boat show, The Superyacht Gathering’s annual Long Lunch took place on Waiheke Island on March 14^th, 2024.

Spring is an active time for APSA in Asia, and the next event on the superyacht schedule is APSA member Horizon’s biennial Open House, a celebration of yachts, culture and innovation being held at the shipyard’s facilities in Kaohsiung, 5-7 March 2024. Over 100 superyacht owners, agents, brokers, and industry professionals will gather for three days of entertainment, superyacht launches, yacht hops, cocktail parties, and gala dinners. I am very much looking to forward to attending the personalised tours of the Horizon Group’s expanded, cutting-edge shipyard facilities, and the insider's view to where the magic happens in crafting these world class vessels. 

The Singapore Yachting Festival (SYF) will take place from 25th – 28th April 2024 at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.  The 4-day event will showcase spectacular yacht displays and stunning entertainment. With a concerted effort to present the full spectrum of the unique yachting lifestyle, the 2024 edition will launch a Lifestyle Festival Market; visitors can expect experiential activities, pop-up lifestyle stalls, demonstrations, live music, roving entertainment and much more.

Agents by Catalano, known for their global representation of leading Yacht Agencies, saw Catalano Shipping Monaco’s Yacht Agent Guillaume Catalano head to the popular offices of Catalano Shipping New Zealand for the 2023/2024 summer. The goal was to offer new internal experiences across the offices and to engage Europe with our pacific clients and team.  

Benetti Yachtmaster 2024 was two days of sharing, listening and dialogue with industry professionals, dedicated to exploring the customer journey and the Benetti lifestyle starting from the central role of the captain in establishing a lasting relationship between the owner and the shipyard.

Superyacht Australia proudly reports the success of its Australia Thailand Rendezvous event held in Phuket, Thailand, marking an important return to engaging with South East Asia since the last event in February 2020. The event, sponsored by Echo Yachts at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina on Friday, February 9th, saw an impressive turnout with 17 superyachts in attendance on the day and 22 engaged throughout the week. 

Colin Dawson, Managing Director, The George Group and Representative on behalf of Howden Insurance Brokers (HK) reflects on the current insurance situation for yachts in the Middle East.  After contacting a number of industry professionals in the superyacht world, that included Captains, security companies, underwriters, managers, agents, and insurance brokers, the general consensus is ‘don’t go!
