January was a busy month, with APSA’s involvement in the inaugural Thailand Yachting Conference and our attendance at the Thailand International Boat Show in Phuket. It was great to finally catch up with our APSA members in Thailand, and ASPA looks forward to growing the superyacht community in Asia in 2024.

Early January 2024 saw an iconic Sanlorenzo 500EXP explorer superyacht arriving into Hong Kong. This followed her five-year long circumnavigation cruise which featured in-depth stops in Alaska, the southern hemisphere, French Polynesia, and New Zealand, before calling at Asia’s yachting gems including Raja Ampat, Indonesia and Palawan, the Philippines.

On the brokerage side Burgess Asia team advised sellers on the transaction of a 90m+ Oceanco, the 85m Lurssen AMATASIA (now GIGIA, for charter with Burgess), the 74m Amels LADY E and the 61m Amels EVENT, while completing the new build and delivery of a 42m Ferretti Custom Line, and progressing the new build of a 38m Rosetti.

At the start of 2024 APSA is delighted to welcome two new members. The other new member is Roll Group, which offers yacht transport services through its fleet of versatile RollDock vessels. This year was kick-started with the Thailand Yachting Conference (TYC) and the Thailand International Boat Show 2024 (TIBS) in January. The day-long conference kept the 60+ delegates engaged and informed and provided a valuable opportunity for participants to discuss important issues facing the boating community in Thailand, and to update participants on advancements taking place in the Southeast Asia region. APSA was pleased to be a supporting partner for the event.

The second edition of the Thailand International Boat Show A Luxury Life Style Event received strong government support with the show and was officially opened by Kitti Chaodee, Secretary to Thailand’s Minister for Tourism and Sports.
Sanlorenzo Asia represented by Simpson Marine has had another successful year in 2023, with a record number of orders from both the yacht and superyacht division. Particular success has been in the SL Asymmetric range and the SD semi-displacement range of yachts.
